We are EEIG members of the YES Forum and our director Dr. Lilika Trikalinou is going through her second term as a board member in YES Forum’s Board.
We were thrilled when the opportunity arose for us to co-host the 2023 Policy Event. We have been part of YES Forum’s events for many years and are certain of their quality, that’s why we always decide to prioritize joining these events. We had no hesitation in being a co-organizer for this specific event since, not only did we know that our partner YES Forum would be a great leader and organizer, but we are also very passionate about the topic; Effective EU Communication towards Youth.
As a Guidance Centre, we are in direct contact with young people and are eager to promote their voice, so being able to do this in such a scale was well within our goals. IEKEP is a project partner in the READY project, which was directly intertwined with this year’s Policy Event.
Being part of this experience was highly beneficial. At the core of our everyday work is non-formal learning and experiential learning as an education method. Given the topic of this year’s Policy Event, it was a great opportunity for us to implement and showcase our methodology in such a wide and diverse audience. It was also a great opportunity for younger members of staff to participate in organizing an event of that scale, to expose them in public speaking with and in the content of EU officials and professionals coming from a variety of countries and be exposed in networking with people coming from different capacities and organisations.
Our experience confirmed our already strong confidence in the common values that run through the YES Forum network. It also gave us the opportunity to further strengthen the bond that we as an organization share with the YES Forum Secretariat.
