The YES Forum 2024 Annual Event & General Assembly took place in Piteå, Sweden, between 11 and 13 June. Organised in collaboration with the Municipality of Piteå, the event “Nordic Insights on Sustainable Futures:  Inclusion & Innovation in the Green Transition” focused on the social challenges driven by the green transition and its impact in Northern Sweden.

50 participants from 23 organizations across 11 countries had the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of the Green Deal and observe its implementation first-hand in northern Sweden, a leading example in the green transition both in Europe and worldwide.

The Nordic way towards social inclusion

Participants familiarized themselves with the social challenges faced in the northern region of Sweden as part of the green transition, such as the need for more workers across various sectors and the adaptation of public and welfare services to an increasing population.

The attractiveness of the region was also broadly discussed during the event, as well as experiences and social initiatives carried out in the region to address many of the different aspects of the transition. New projects and ideas were also discussed during the Project Planning Session.

In addition, attendees had the chance to know first-hand the work carried out in the Piteå Learning Centre to help newcomers with their adaptation and language skills, as well as to offer them vocational training and work experience.
