How would you explain a European treaty visually? That was the challenge for the participants on the second training of the READY project that took place in Lucca on 3-7 July. 22 young participants and 11 youth and social workers from Germany, Italy, France, Croatia and Greece worked together to fine-tune infographics to explain the European Union to young people. Their learning and reflections will turn into key messages targeting European institutions on how to communicate with young citizens.
The week focused on two main topics. On one hand, young people and professionals let their creativity flow to improve the infographics created before the training. The group feedback and the working sessions upgraded the visuals and ensured that they are understandable for all. In the upcoming months, the results will be shared both on social media and in a publication.
On the other hand, the group reflected on good and bad communication practices from public institutions to identify strategies that help young people feel closer to public bodies. They also designed new visuals with tips and tricks to improve institutions’ communication. These ideas will be compiled and shared with policymakers and communication professionals to bridge the gap between young people and the European Union.
We understand, we see: time to spread the word!
Now the READY project faces its last phase. With the European treaties already translated into accessible language for young people and the infographics almost finalised, the next steps aim at sharing the learning gathered during the last months with stakeholders through different means, such as on-site gatherings and a publication.
